Balfe’s Bikes now offer a new way to help keep your bike in top shape without the hassle of transporting it to and from the workshop. The convenient new Home Collection Bike Service brings the high-quality work of our skilled mechanics to you, with collection from your front door. This service is currently only available in some areas of London and the South East, see our postcode map for details.
Here’s How it Works:
- Schedule a Pickup: Choose a collection date that fits your schedule from the dropdown and add to basket. Proceed to basket and checkout ignoring any references and information regarding Click& Collect. SELECT HOME DELIVERY, enter your address details and you will be presented with the collection option if you are in an eligible postcode. If you are not there will be no options available. Please also ignore the automated shipping date information - your collection will be on the day you selected originally. Once you’ve paid the £10 collection fee, our Support team will be in touch to confirm the collection address and time window. At this point we will ask you a few simple questions about your bike and the work it needs.
- Pickup and Quote: On your chosen date, one of our friendly drivers will arrive to collect your bike. They will provide an initial quote for the work based on their visual assessment of the bike and any guidance from you.
- Professional Service: The bike will then be handed over to our team of skilled mechanics at the Balfe’s Gatwick workshop, who will start work on your bike.
- Real-time Updates: We believe in keeping you informed every step of the way. Should the team need to special-order any parts, or if the work is likely to cost more than expected, we will contact you to confirm you are happy to proceed.
- Ready to Ride: Once the work is completed, you will be sent a remote-payment link for the cost of the service and any parts used. At the same time, the team will be in touch to pick a delivery date that works best for you.
- Convenient Delivery: Lastly, one of our drivers will deliver the bike back to you. They will provide a full handover, explaining the new parts fitted and all work carried out to make sure you are satisfied.
The £10 booking charge covers the collection and delivery of your bike. The service fees and parts cost are separate from this charge, and will be paid once the work on your bike is completed.
Collection dates are available Monday to Friday, and will occur between 9am and 5pm. We are not able to offer collections at specific times of day, so please ensure someone will be home for the collection and that they are able to authorize the value of work required. Our collection drivers are qualified Cytech mechanics, and will provide you with an initial servicing quote at the time of collection. This is unlikely to be an exact figure, but if there is any significant variation to work or parts required, the mechanic performing the work will contact you to seek permission before proceeding.
What Will a Service Cost Me?
Our servicing fees cover the cost of labour required to complete work on a bike, but do not include the cost of replacement parts fitted to the bike during the service. This means that the total price of a service will vary for every bike. We will always aim to be transparent with our costs, but as every bike is unique it can be hard to provide an exact quote before work has begun. In some cases our mechanics may also provide advisories, i.e. that some other components are reaching the end of their usable life and will need replacing fairly soon.
The type of bike you have may affect the kind of service you want or need. Below are some examples of services we offer, and how much they might cost.
Unsure which service would be best for your bike? Our Support team will be happy to talk you through the options and recommend the best option. Call on 020 4506 3856 Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:30pm, or visit the Contact Us page for more options.
Please note, home collection is only suitable for regular servicing. Should you have a suspected warranty issue, such as a faulty e-bike motor or failed component, please contact your local store directly to arrange an inspection.
