Handlebar Type-3 types offer different riding positions for varying heights of rider and styles of riding:
Low: Shorter riders will find this a good all-round position and taller riders will be in a lower, sporty ride position, which may be preferable if the rider is used to a road bike.
Mid: Our classic handlebar shape, which for most riders provides an all-round, neutral position. Shorter riders will find this offers a more upright, leisurely position and taller riders will find this still gives a slightly sporty position.
High: Our classic handlebar shape, at an elevated height (6 cm higher in the bike stem). Taller riders will find this offers a more neutral position and anyone shorter will feel close to upright, similar in style to a traditional Dutch bike.
Information on Seatpost Length-Balfe's offer the Standard post (comes fitted to low/mid handlebar models) and Extended post (comes fitted to high handlebar models) on our bikes, however the telescopic post is available to purchase separately:
Standard: Suitable for those with an inside leg measurement of 33 inches / 84 cm maximum.
Extended: 2.5 inches / 60mm longer than the standard. This seatpost option does leave the saddle higher when the bike is folded and therefore the below option may suit you if you wish to keep the bike as small as possible when folded.
Telescopic: Designed for those with an inside leg greater than 35 inches / 89cm
Next level frameThe P Line titanium rear frame and forks are 700 grams lighter than the all-steel equivalent and are just as strong. The redesigned suspension block maximises efficiency and responsiveness by shifting your pedal power to improve control and handling performance. Naturally, shock-absorbing titanium smooths out the road. You can feel the difference.
Enhanced portability
Moving with this bike is easy. The new dual-locking seat post system has two positions, fully down for storing or halfway up for rolling. The folded bike gently steers through tight busy spaces with the Superlight Saddle nose handle. Larger, lighter rolling wheels glide over uneven ground.
Superlight, compact gear system built for the city
Designed in-house, the new superlight compact gearing system* is fine-tuned for city riding. The 4-speed system with an all-new 60-gram derailleur is meticulously engineered to fit inside the narrow fold. Delivering a similar ratio to the 3-speed and 60% more than the 2.
All-new wheelset
Brompton's lightest, sturdiest wheelset. With a new rear hub designed ground-up to accommodate the new compact 4-speed gear set. Tested on a purpose-made rig and fired with mud, water and sand for hundreds of hours. This wheelset stands up to the abuse of the city. Now fitted with hex key axles and a new hanger mount, so removing them for roadside repairs or maintenance is quick and easy.
